We are able to offer the following New Zealand Certificates:
New Zealand Certificate in Retail (Level 3)
This is an intermediate level qualification for those working or intending to work in the retail industry. The holder of this qualification has skills and knowledge relating to staff, customers, products, communication, and administration in a retail environment.
Although the programme is designed to enhance a student's customer service and retail skills working in dive shops and dive tourism enterprises; the skill sets [service delivery, sales, core retail skills] are transferrable to other retail contexts.
Students will learn how to establish standards of professional practice for retail and customer service skills that can provide customers with confidence in the service they receive. Students will learn how to apply health, safety and security practices to ensure own safety and minimise potential hazards for customers and co-workers in a
retail environment and follow standard operating procedures to deal with familiar problems in a retail environment.
Students will learn to use communication skills and techniques and organisational practices to influence customers and meet business needs in a retail environment; including applying knowledge of products and inventory to retail interactions.
Graduates of the programme will be awarded the New Zealand Certificate in Retail (Level 3).
Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Medic First Aid Instructor) (Level 4)
The Academy, through Emergency Medical Planning (NZ) Ltd, is the major New Zealand tertiary provider for HSI - Health & Safety Institute USA, which is one of the largest first aid trainers in the world. The unique Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Medic First Aid Instructor) (Level 4) allows graduates to offer first aid instruction & certification immediately after graduation. The programme offers activity-based learning such as Instruct Medic First Aid Workplace Courses, Instruct Medic First Aid Advanced Courses, and Instruct Medic First Aid Outdoor and Wilderness Courses. Unit standards in Adult Education and Training in a first aid context are offered. The Academy and Emergency Medical Planning (NZ) Ltd are members of AECTP – Association of Emergency Care Training Providers.
Graduates of the programme will be awarded the New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 4).
Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Dive Instructor) (Level 4)
This programme is intended for people who want to engage in adult and tertiary teaching in the context of teaching underwater diving. They will be delivering education or training in a workplace as part of their role.
Although the programme is designed to enhance a student's skills and knowledge for roles as an instructor working in dive shops and dive tourism enterprises; the skills and attributes required for an adult and tertiary educator are transferrable to other contexts.
The programme has a strong practical, and authentic teaching or training settings. Students will learn how to design and deliver learning sessions for adults; use standards to assess candidates' performance; review, evaluate and identify areas of improvement for own adult education teaching practice. Students will learn how to engage in adult and tertiary teaching in the context of teaching underwater diving by Instructing a PADI Navigation Course; Instructing a PADI Search & Recovery Course; and Instructing a PADI Deep Diving Course.
The use of international learning materials and assessments from the Professional Association of Diving (PADI) ensures that the programme stays current with international best practice.
Graduates of the programme will be awarded the New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 4).
